Your Questions, Answered

We want you to feel confident and comfortable. Here are answers to some of the most common questions about our services, process, and experience.

VAT FAQs

Q: Do I get wet?

A: Not at all — this is a completely dry, weightless experience. You lie on top of a specialized membrane with transducers built in underneath, so the vibration moves through the water based system and through you without a drop of water touching you. You stay fully clothed and comfortable the whole time, which makes it easy to drop in right after a shift.

Q: What should I wear?

A: Just comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. Since you stay fully clothed throughout, there’s no need to undress or shower afterward — so you can head straight back to work or your routine right after your session, though we’d encourage lingering a little in that deep rest if you can.

Q: What does it feel like?

A: Clients often describe it as a deep restorative sound massage. You don’t just hear the vibration — you feel it travel through your body in rhythmic waves. It’s deeply soothing and non-invasive, and many describe a sense of floating or deep release. We offer Pure Frequency sessions, where it’s felt but not heard, and Full Sound Immersion, where you both feel and hear the experience, truly an experience to have.

Q: Is it safe?

A: Vibroacoustic therapy uses non-invasive, low-frequency sound and vibration, and has been studied since the late 1960s. Most people find it comfortable and well-tolerated, though we recommend checking with your doctor first if you have an active pacemaker or are in your first trimester of pregnancy. Ask us for a full list of contraindications to see if VAT is right for you.

Q: Is Vibroacoustic therapy different than a regular foam VAT system or sound bath?

A: Water is key — sound travels nearly five times faster and more efficiently through water than through air. Because our system uses a weightless, water-based membrane rather than foam, the vibration can move more deeply and evenly through the body. A sound bath is primarily auditory; our sessions add a tactile, full-body dimension you can feel as much as hear.

Q: How is this different from a Float Tank experience?

A: A float tank is sensory deprivation — you float in a warm salt tub in silence and darkness, and the magic happens in the absence of input. Our sessions work the opposite way: we are sensory immersion. Instead of removing stimulation, we introduce it — targeted vibration and sound that move through your body in place of the silence. Both are powerful paths to deep rest, they just get there differently: one by quieting the world around you, the other by giving your nervous system something rhythmic and grounding to settle into cellular restoration.

Q: How does VAT help with pain?

A: Gate control theory suggests that steady, rhythmic sensory input — like the vibration used in VAT — can help “close the gate” on pain signals traveling to the brain, easing how pain is felt in the moment. For those managing ongoing tension and discomfort, sessions are also designed to support localized circulation and invite muscles to release from a guarded, protective state.

Q: I have chronic insomnia/sleep issues. Can this help?

A: Yes. Sleep disorders are often rooted in an overactive nervous system. Our therapy gently but effectively shifts your body out of the stressed Sympathetic (fight/flight) mode and into the relaxed Parasympathetic (rest and digest) mode, making it much easier to fall asleep and stay asleep naturally.

Q: I’m dealing with burnout. Can VAT help?

A: Many people turn to VAT as a way to decompress after periods of chronic stress or overwork — whether that’s shift work, caregiving, high-stress jobs, or just running on empty for too long. If you have a nervous system that’s stuck in “on,” this is designed to give it a chance to downshift. Sessions offer a space to slow down and let your body settle, so you can transition back into your life feeling less like you’re carrying the day with you.

Q: I have brain fog from sitting at a computer all day. How does VAT help?

A: We know this feeling too well! Vibroacoustic therapy works to synchronize your brain hemispheres, reducing the mental fatigue caused by constant screen stimulation and decision-making. Clients report a feeling of ‘mental de-cluttering’ and improved focus for hours after a session.

Q: Why should I buy a membership or a package? Can’t I just try one session?

A: You can absolutely start with one session. But many people find VAT works best as a cumulative practice — just like a single gym visit won’t build muscle, one session offers a great rest, while regular visits (4 or more a month) give your nervous system a chance to settle into a new baseline over time. Memberships and packages are designed to support that kind of lasting shift, rather than a one-off reset.

Q: If I’m covered for RMT, can I claim this therapy?

A: At present, we do not have a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) designation unless stated otherwise, but we are looking into this. Therefore, you cannot typically use standard health spending accounts (HSAs). However, the vast majority of our clients use their Lifestyle Spending Account (LSA) or Personal Wellness Funds, as we are a proven stress-management and wellness service. Please check your specific corporate plan to see if VAT qualifies.

Q: Do I need to wear headphones?

A: Yes. We use high-quality headphones, which is key because the therapy delivers sound through two distinct paths: through the air (auditory) and through the dry float mattress (tactile/vibrational). This dual input is what creates the powerful, immersive nervous system effect we use during VAT sessions. However, Pure frequency sessions allow these frequencies to target the body uninterrupted by other auditory signals.

Q: How can this help during the long winter months?

A: Winter fatigue and low mood are often linked to poor sleep and low energy. Our sessions help regulate sleep patterns and boost the nervous system’s ability to cope with stress. By helping your body achieve deep rest, we support better mood regulation throughout the long winter months.

Q: I have sports injuries. How will the vibration affect my injury?

A: The vibration is very low-frequency and gentle. It’s not a concussive shock; it’s a rhythmic, oscillating wave. It’s safe and beneficial because it increases circulation to the injured area without requiring the pressure and deep friction of a traditional massage, speeding up the body’s natural repair process.

Q: I have back/neck pain from prolonged sitting/driving. Can VAT help this too?

A: Absolutely. The warm liquid filled membrane provides perfect zero-pressure support, decompressing the spine and neck after hours of maintaining a fixed, strained posture. The vibration specifically targets the low back and shoulder stabilizers that become fatigued from physical labour, trade work or unnatural positions such as sitting and driving.

Q: Will I feel anything right away?

A:  In our experience, 9 out of 10 people feel physical shifts in the first session—often within the first few minutes. The other 10 % feel subtle changes during the session and wake up the next day saying, “Something feels completely different. I feel lighter and more energized.

Q: How is Vibroacoustic Sound different from listening to wellness apps through headphones?

A: The biggest difference is felt, not just heard. Headphone-based apps offer sound through the ears alone, engaging the mind through calming or focused audio. Vibroacoustic sound is delivered physically — through a bed that converts sound into gentle mechanical vibration, allowing you to feel resonance move through your body, not just hear it. It’s designed to be a full-body, embodied experience rather than a purely auditory one.

Q: How many sessions do most people require?

A: Change tends to build over time. Many clients feel something shift after their very first session, but consistency is where deeper, longer-lasting patterns take hold. For those navigating ongoing tension, stress, or difficult periods, a series of 5–10 sessions gives the body time and space to settle into something new. Many clients choose to continue with a membership or package after their initial sessions.

Q: Do you play whale sounds or spa music?

A: No. We use precise frequencies — including sine waves, Solfeggio tones, binaural beats, and planetary tones — chosen for how they resonate through the body rather than for a calming ambiance. Some sessions are silent except for the vibration itself; some people prefer pure silence when experiencing Pure Frequency sessions.

Q: I’m very sensitive to sound. Will the audio be loud?

A: The volume and vibration is gentle and fully adjustable. Most of the experience is felt as a gentle vibration in the body, not heard in the ears unless it’s a session which incorporates curated music tracks.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

A: We require 24 hours notice. We understand that life happens—if you’re sick or stuck, just message us and we’ll move your session, no charge.

Q: Still not sure?

A: That’s exactly what a single session is for. Book Pure Frequency or Full Sound Immersion and step into the experience yourself — no membership, no commitment. Many people notice something shift after just one visit. From there, packages and membership pricing give you the best value to allow you to keep coming back.

Somatic Breathwork FAQs

Q: How does Somatic Breathwork benefit the body?

A: Somatic Breathwork is designed to support the nervous system’s shift from “fight or flight” toward “rest and digest.” Rhythmic, conscious breathing invites the release of tension the body may be holding — not only physical tension, but also emotional experiences that haven’t fully processed, including stress or difficult past experiences. Many people find this practice deepens the mind-body connection and creates space for a lasting sense of calm.

Q: What does Somatic Breathwork feel like?

Phase 1: Grounding & Focus – You’ll settle into the space, slowing the mind and focusing on the mechanics of breath. You may notice “fizzy” or tingly sensations as your oxygen levels shift. Nothing is forced here — only the breath, and awareness of what’s present in the body.

Phase 2: The Release – This is the active “work.” You might experience “body armouring” (tightness in the jaw or chest) or involuntary shaking. Many describe this as their body discharging stored stress. It can feel like a powerful release, and for some, a point of deep surrender.

Phase 3: Integration – A period of deep stillness. You might feel heavy, grounded, and “mentally de-cluttered.” Many describe feeling lighter and more connected to themselves. For some, it’s the beginning of noticing how breath affects the emotional body — what they might still be holding onto, or what’s been keeping them stuck.

This practice engages the body directly — offering something talk-based approaches alone don’t always reach. Held in a safe, supportive space, it invites a level of physical release and ease that can be difficult to access on your own.
